Between them the brothers Barnard we have over fifty years Professional Model Building experience in the building of Architectural Models, Engineering Models and Topographical Models. As a result of years of experimentation during the process of meeting client demands for Specific Application Models, they have at their disposal a vast knowledge of materials and their applications.
Prior to establishing Inventive Studio in 2000, Paul Barnard built models for Theo Steyn Studios and Communicraft Creative Workshop in Pretoria. He also constructed prototypes and molds for Lightweight Structures Technologies, a workshop specializing in the manufacture of carbon fiber aviation products. Gerhard Barnard lectured in props construction at Technicon Pretoria after achieving his diploma in Theater Technology in 1989. In addition to his model building experience, he has worked in the film industry doing special effects.
An experienced model maker would always advise the client as to the scale and size (detail and transport ability) of any given model. This allows the client to make a decision based on their specific needs. Property developers, architects and engineers in South Africa are increasingly involved in projects abroad, and therefore also need to ship the model to destinations across the globe. At Inventive Studio we construct our own purpose built transportation cases and have successfully delivered models to many foreign destinations.
