Description:

Koi fish, also known as Nishikigoi, are a domesticated variety of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) that are kept for ornamental purposes. They are believed to have originated in China and have been kept in Japan for more than a thousand years. Koi fish come in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and sizes, and they have become a popular addition to many backyard ponds and water gardens.

One of the most distinct characteristics of koi fish is their vibrant coloration. They can come in a range of hues, including white, black, yellow, orange, red, and blue. Some koi fish even have a combination of different colors and patterns, such as a white fish with orange spots or a black fish with a red tail.

Koi fish can grow to be quite large, with some individuals reaching up to four feet in length. However, they are usually kept in smaller ponds and tanks, and they are typically between 18 and 24 inches long. They have a life span of around 25-30 years, some can live even longer if the condition of the pond is good and the fish receive proper care.

Koi fish are hardy and adaptable, which makes them well-suited for life in a pond. They can tolerate a wide range of water temperatures and pH levels, and they are not overly sensitive to changes in water quality. Koi fish are also relatively easy to feed, and they will eat a variety of food, including commercial pellets, small insects, and even fruits and vegetables.
